08.28.14 - DOWNTOWN TOP RANKING w/ PRES CARTER + DELLY RANX

THURSDAY, AUGUST 28th
10pm - 4am

DOWNTOWN TOP RANKING
Inna Special FAREWELL TO WKCR's CARTER VAN PELT special Plus DELLY RANX LIVE!

For the past ten years, Selector, Promoter, Reggae Historian and Journalist Carter Van Pelt has been a true mainstay and positive voice in the NYC reggae community -- His radio show on, Wkcr Eastern Standard Time has filled Saturdays with amazing tunes, amazing guests and amazing interviews and his Coney Island Reggae on the Beach parties have been the highlight of Summers here in the Big Apple. So, we were saddened to here that Carter Van Pelt will be heading back of his home state of Nebraska to share his great vibes with his Midwestern family. But before he does that, we wanted to give him a Special Deadly Dragon send-off at this week's DownTown Top Ranking where he will be selecting alongside the Deadly Dragon crew of JD, Mr. K, Queen Majesty and Scratch Famous.

If that weren't enough the big man Delly Ranx will be passing thru to debut some of the new tunes on his upcoming LP SWEET REGGAE in a pure rub-a-dub fashion.

09.19.13 - DUB CHAMPIONS FESTIVAL at THE DELANCEY

Subatomic Sound presents
DUB CHAMPIONS FESTIVAL 2013
Opening Night in NYC with
Deadly Dragon Sound

Dub Champions Festival day 1! Warm up on the first night of the festival in NYC with a Thursday institution, Deadly Dragon Sound’s weekly rub-a-dub party, right around the corner from the Deadly Dragon record shop, is temporarily homeless with the closing of Happy Ending, so we will be throwing the opening party downstairs at The Delancey: dedicated vinyl selectors (aka DJs) with DJs (aka MCs) rocking the mic, preserving the Jamaican sound system culture from which dub originally evolved.

This will be the US debut of India’s first sound system crew, Reggae Rajahs out of New Delhi. Always expect surprise guests. Vibes come correct. The night will start bubbling early, 7pm, with Carter Van Pelt, radio host of Eastern Standard Time – WKCR 89.9 FM and the long running Coney Island Reggae on the Boardwalk summer beach parties.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The third annual Dub Champions Festival is a 5 day journey into the international musical phenomenon called “dub” a style characterized by heavy bass, drums, and copious use of effects, where the producers become the artists and the mixing board becomes an instrument. The festival features both performances & educational workshops to exhibit how the music is created and has evolved from the original roots in Jamaican reggae of the 1970s to becoming a cornerstone of the future of electronic bass music. Along the way it has redefined the role of producer and influenced and inspired countless artists and genres from rap to rock to punk to dance music.
Dub Champions Festival was founded in New York City by Emch from Subatomic Sound (www.SubatomicSound.com) and third annual USA festival takes place this year in New York City, Washington DC, & Philadelphia.
