Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton: This Is Stones Throw Records presented by projekt:nyc
Directed by Jeff Broadway
92 min/2014/US/English

Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton  is a feature-length documentary about avant-garde Los Angeles-based record label Stones Throw Records and weaves together rare concert footage, never-before-seen archival material, inner-circle home video and photographs and in-depth interviews with the artists who put Stones Throw Records on the map. Our Vinyl Weighs A Ton gives an exclusive look into the label’s left-of-center artists, history, culture, and global following. The film features exclusive interviews with Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Common, Questlove, Talib Kweli, Mike D (The Beastie Boys), Tyler the Creator, and many more.
After the screening, Why Vinyl Weighs A Ton, a brief Q + A, will be moderated by Dana Bartle (Filmmaker & Event Director of Brooklyn Bowl). The conversation will focus onthe art of vinyl and the vinyl DJ and the panel will include some of the best DJs who still use primarily (or only) vinyl in their sets:
Andrew Edward Brown (Champion Soul), Duane Harriott (Negroclash, Other Music, WFMU, stilov4music), DJ Amir (Wax Poetics, 180 Proof), Kimyon (Metroplex), Queen Majesty (Deadly Dragon, Jamaica Rock), Natasha Diggs (Mobile Mondays), DJ Shred One (Cherrie Records).
A few surprise guest panelists will also be on hand for the evening.
Following the screening and Q & A, an after party in the screening room and adjacent lounge featuring DJs Amir, Natasha Diggs The Twilite Tone and Duane Harriott will close the night out with an all vinyl set.
As an added bonus, all ticket holders for the screening will be given complimentary entry to Brooklyn Bowl after 11pm on the same evening to see Biz Markie DJ on the decks. Just show your ticket at the box office window upon entry.
